I suggest also using a firm toothbrush instead of the scraper to clean the gears and the outside of the gear housing. Use the bottle brush for the inside of the housing.

Clean right after juicing. What you juice, and in what order, makes a big difference. Kiwi fruit tends to clog things up, so intersperse it with carrot, or kale. Celery strings tend to pack around the gears, so consider ending the grinding with a cucumber, which has lots of water, and cleans the gears.

As far as soaking the feeder tube, I believe the manual says not to do it, because of a sensor in the tube. Just clean it right away, under warm/hot water from the tap, and it cleans well.

I bought this machine yesterday and I give it 3.5 stars out of 5. All in all, I am fairly happy with the end product, however I have an issue with this machine:

LIttle pieces of fruit & veggies shoot out of the feed tube & splatter everywhere before getting the pusher in place! What am I doing wrong? I end up having to clean up my entire kitchen! Any tips would very much be appreciated.
